Make Newton default Mail app in iOS 14#307

iOS 14 now lets users change their default browser and email apps. In order to use this feature, third-party apps need to add the option to the app settings. I’d like to set Newton as default and never look back.

I really hope this is there day one as I can’t imagine its a lot of code to change to accomplish this. But perhaps there is more involved than I am aware of.

Well, they told me some time ago that they had sent this update to apple. I don’t know what to believe. there are applications that are updated often and I don’t understand how newton takes so long. and that they told me weeks ago that it had already been sent to be able to put newton as the main email. for what we pay we hope at least to be able to certain advantages before other applications even free.

I bought and used a subscription to Newton a few yrs ago and it had a few issues then. They kept saying they would fix them and add things but never did. At the end of my 1st subscription, 9 months into it, they shut it down and took it off the market… over, no more Newton. I went back to Apple Mail and started using a plugin designed for Mac Mail called Mailbutler. Works great, extremely well designed. (mailbutler.io). When Newton reappeared they said, new owners, new support. To me it may be new owners but, support is the same. They say they are doing or submitting things but nothing ever happens. I think I will move on from Newton for good this time. I am going back to Apple Mail where I can actually count on structure, functionality, and support for what I am paying for. I am using their beta version right now and the new design is awesome with all their apps on Mac.

Well, yes, I’ve also been around for years and I don’t trust that one day it will close again. What bothers me is that they tell me that they have presented the update of ios14 in apple for many days and it does not come out. there are applications that are constantly updated. for me that they have taken me off by telling me that. We should have many more options as other email managers have, some free and others paid but without being so expensive. And I don’t want to put names because I think almost everyone knows it.

When can we expect to see this feature? Not being able to set Newton as the default email program is extremely problematic.
