Unauthorised subscription#740

Anybody getting Subscription invoices through despite closing your account?

Obviously cannot log in to deactivate details as my account is closed?

No reply from Hello Newton despite numerous emails?

Waiting to see if the subscription is taken from my account.

I am having the same problem. Was invoiced today. My Newton account was closed months ago and cannot log back in. I have rung the bank and the payment for $49.99 looks as if it is going through. Future payments have been stopped. No response from two emails. Thought they were better than this.

My payment as gone through.
Tracked down a couple of Newton people via social media and sent dm but nothing back as yet.
It’s a shame, not mad but so disappointed with this, you’d at least expect a response.

The bank has said they need proof of cancellation which I am unable to give because I cannot log back in. I have tried DM on social media, nothing. I have even contacted Apple as Newton app is in the App Store. Customer Service is non-existent. One of the worst companies like this I have come across. My money is due out tomorrow. I wonder if the telephone number is a possibility, even though I live in UK.

I tried the number and it went to voicemail. Left a message but no response. Money taken from my account too.

I have had mine though and when I login to the website it tells me I don’t have a subscription. I do though! For the first time though, I’m considering not renewing. Numerous bugs have appeared and support has disappeared.

I cancelled the subscription months ago but a payment still went through. I have sent emails, Direct Messages, contacted Stripe and even contacted Apple. Telephone goes to Voicemail. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. Graham be careful when not renewing because they will still take your money if the account is closed on the Newton website.

So gutted that Newton has gone/is going this way again. So much love for it but somehow it never seems to keep going :(

Can someone tell me what the charge goes through as on your bank statement please? I am trying to finds the last payment but I can’t see it as cloudmagic or newton

Graham, The info on my bank statement is

Intl Card (No xxxxxxxx)
Newton Mail Sub

With the amount of £41.09 ($49.99) on the right-hand side

I had high hopes of Newton this time around, how wrong was I. They are conning people here and should be exposed. I have spoken to my bank this morning and they are doing what they can. By not being able to log on I cannot offer confirmation of cancellation. At least no further payments will be taken. Looks like this payment will go through.

Yeh me too. I thought these guys really meant it when they took over. For me they just added a load of bloat I didn’t want and introduced a whole load of bugs while they were at it. Such a shame. I’ll speak to my bank

I got a response via Reddit.
Email come through day after confirming refund but nothing as yet through.

I think it will probably clear the next day or two in fairness.

Couldn’t really get a feel on current attitude from them, but I’m guessing they’re a small team now and things are just going past them. No response via email, just the refund banner sent through.

Is there anybody checking this forum anymore? I don’t know but I see very little from the Newton team on here? Such a shame.

Thanks for the previous reply. I have posted on Reddit. I contacted the Newton finance company Stripe who answered almost instantly. They were very apologetic and not very pleased with what I reported but could do very little about getting anything sorted. This whole episode has left a sour taste with me. Newton Customer Service seems non-existent, they are worse than they have ever been.
